BENGALURU: As many as 62,306 students appeared for COMEDK examination, out of 76,414, held on Sunday across 137 cities in India. And most students in Bengaluru said the exam was easier than CET and easier than last year’s COMEDK. Physics and Mathematics was easier than Chemistry, said students.
Hemakalash M, one of the COMEDK takers from KLE Nijalingappa College in Rajajinagar, said, “Physics and Mathematics were easier sections as most questions were direct and from the text books.
The exam was easier than CET this year.” Harish B, another aspirant also said, “Physics was easy but although Mathematics was easy, it was lengthy. Chemistry was tougher, overall COMEDK was easier than CET.”
Snehal Shyamsukha, a student from ISC board who took the test said, “CET was tough may be because that was my first competitive exam. COMEDK felt an easy task also because I got more time to prepare after taking CET. I hoping to get a better rank because the number of candidates who have appeared for COMEDK is also less than that in CET.” Poojitha M, who has taken CET, NEET and COMEDK said this was the easiest of entrance exam she took so far. Faraz Rabbani who came from Andhra Pradesh to take the test in Dayanand Sagar College of Engineering travelled all night on Saturday. “We took a night train and reached the test center at 7:30 am because I did not want to take any risk. Although I felt Mathematics to be difficult and time taking, the exam was good because Physics was easy to write,”
Madhav Jivrajan, a computer science engineering aspirant who took coaching from Deeksha Centre for Learning said, “The exam was easier because more questions were application based and not memory based, excepting the Chemistry section. Mathematics was lengthy but Physics was easiest. A lot of questions in all the sectiosnwere straight out from NCERT syllabus.”
COMEDK exam was conducted in 291 centres across the country, out of which 108 centres were in 24 cities in Karnataka. Bengaluru alone had conducted the test in 48 centres in Bengaluru. The test was conducted online and there were no reports of technical glitches from any centre, said the COMEDK authorities. The test was conducted between 10 am and 1 pm.
However, there were five students in five different centres in Bengaluru, authorities said, who started taking the test five minutes past 10 am. “They logged in after five minutes when the exam had started all over India but they were allowed to take five minutes extra time to write their papers, as a built-in mechanism of the entrance gateway,” the official communique said.

Anandi Sagar, from MES Kishore Kendra who took the test in T John College of Engineering said, “A few candidates came late although the reporting time was 8 am. I personally felt COMEDK easier because the test was online, unlike CET which is offline. I started off with Maths so I had less time for Physics and Chemistry.”
In Karnataka, 21,889 students took the exam out of 25,405 who applied for the same, which is about 86.16% of attendance. Only one malpractice was reported from one of the centres in West Bengal, said the authorities, wherein the student was found using mobile phone during the test and was expelled immediately.
